Ballet heroes: past and present.

Some may call them founders, or leaders.

But I call them heroes that have made a way for the next generation to shine.

The Father of American ballet:

George Balanchine was born on January 22, 1904, he was one of the 20th century's best choreographers.
Along with Kiristien and Jerome Robbins, he co-founded the New York city ballet.
After years of illness, Balanchine died on April 30, 1983, he was 79 years old.

The Founder of Modern Dance:

Martha Graham was born on May 11, 1894.
In 1926 the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance was established.
She was an excellent choreographer using unusual costumes and movements to complete her choreography.
She was sometimes named the "Picasso of Dance".
She died April 1, 1991, at the age of 96.

Defying the Odds:

Born September 10, 1982 Misty Copeland is the third African-American soloist.
She is considered a prodigy, and despite family conflicts, injury's, and disorders she rose to stardom.
She has pushed through all hurdles and is rising to the top.
She is now living in New York city.

Inspiring Stars:

Kathryn Morgan, a former New York city ballet soloist has been brought down by an illness.
Now that she is recovering she is using the media to rise back up to the top.
Inspiring and helping young dancers as she goes.

Snow! Ice!......yay?

If you live in the Tennessee area then you know exactly what I am talking about.
Snow, sleet, rain, ice, and wind.
I am starting to appreciate mailmen more now that I see the light.
(If you didn't catch that reference, then you need to watch Tangled.)

Back to important news, they called a State of Emergency in Tennessee.
Here in Nashville it is pretty bad. We weren't able to leave the house yesterday,  and probably not today either.  I have heard that while driving on the interstate last night.
people got trapped in their cars and because of wrecks, the interstate is closed today.
And the worst news is that ballet has been canceled.

Don't judge.

So, since we can't protest against the weather, I suggest that we pray.
Pray that everyone will be safe on the roads today.
And, that this major setback in our daily life will soon be over.
Now before this winter weather ends,
lets take a moment to step outside and see the beauty of Gods creation.

Done?

Your welcome, I just gave a excuse to drink hot chocolate. Enjoy!
And if you don't like chocolate then I suggest going to a doctor,
something is not right with you.

You get your pointe shoes.

I was so excited!

After we got in the car my pointe shoes did not leave my sight.
I was so excited when we got home that I tried them on again.
It drove me crazy that I could not do anything else with them until I sewed them.

I was finally able to sew them after I went to my first pointe class.

It was fun, and it didn't hurt like I thought it would.
Of course three classes later my toes started hurting.
But, it was not as bad as I thought (my toes just bled a little :] ).
Of course it is different for everybody.

TIP: If you are getting pointe shoes, ALWAYS clip your toenails before class.

I am back!

I did not have a good start on my blog.

I started with visions of me doing posts really quickly
and being consistent in posting.
But, that was not the case.

So, during Christmas and January I prepared a bunch of posts.
And I will keep creating posts and sharing them with you regularly.

Please check back often for new posts.
If you follow me on Facebook, you will get a notification when I post something new.

I need Comments!!!!

So far I have not been getting any feed back.

And that is bad for me.

Because if I keep posting stuff you don't like and nobody comments and tells me,
then everybody will stop reading my posts, and I will disappear into a black hole.

So if you like my posts, or don't like them, or have ideas for a post that I should do-
Please comment! Thank you!
